DES 170 - Color Theory

Found Color - Camera
For the first project, we had a choice in color and would take photos of those colors. Once gathered, we compiled the pictures and created multiple organized color palettes.
Found Color - Handmade
In this project, we were tasked in painting all the colors on a CMYK and RBG wheel. We also created a Black and White scale with the paint. Together, we organized the painted rectangles into their categories and further explored their tint, shade, and hue.
Harmony and Contrast
Using an online color wheel generator, we created color palettes following the terms, 'monochromatic', 'complimentary', 'split-complimentary', 'triad', and 'analogous'. From there, we explored differing amounts of a certain color to examine the Harmony and Contrast between colors.
Composition Contrasts
The final project consisted of what we've learned throughout the semester while examining colors and how they interact with another. With the topic of opposite words, we were tasked in creating posters. As a final addition, we added typography as an element to consider in the composition.
